Article Translation " 3D Movie Screening in Fuji TV Odaiba Event"
The Movie-making Solution Just Requiring Single Lens/Single Camera Shooting and through a ordinary Editing Process.
Fuji TV has been holding "Odaiba Adventure King 2005-the Most Powerful TV Theme Park' in Odaiba, Tokyo, at which its head office located.
On the firs floor of the office, Matsuura starring in "Really Horror Story-3D Horror Theater' is screening. The film from making to screening was made by Korean Wasol's real 3-D Lenssystem and technically assisted by Visual Communications Co. Inc.
The characteristics of the system is using one lens/one camera shooting system, which is different from the existing 2 camera systems for stereoscope and accordingly just applicable to normal post-production, because, the pictures are recorded in sequential process by the 3D lens adapted to a zoom lens.
The camera was Sony HDW-F900 and the zoom lens was Fujinon A8X12BMD. The post-production go through HDCAM linear editing after non-linear onlining. Editing Monitor was 3D com's 3D CRT and CG Production was taken to Dynamopictures.
The screening has applied 2 methods; one is to use a image distributor HD Demux, which project HDCAM images that are divided into left and right sides and amplified to 60i through a polarizing filter; the other is to use JPEG2000 HDTV Recorder(made by Gigahitsystems Co.). The left and right images divided by HDCAM were output through SDI and linked to 2 recorders that project the images through a polarizing filter.
Because of the long screening time, the two methods are used in turns. The reason that the 3-D film-making is different from the normal one is that the first one requires setting a convergence point for every cut that is a reference point for the sens of projection and depth when shooting.
In addition, for better stereoscopic sense, the lighting is needed for the surroundings. Producer Koto said that the reason Wasol's system was used is the system has its excellency not only in expressing projection sense but also in expressing perspective sense, which would increase the fun of the horror film.
The tree-craning-down opening scene and the scattering scene CG by a broken vase scene can be vivid only by expressing perspective.
This special effects required one more cut that the normal filming. Also, it was important to have common sense in order to produce the first 3D horror drama(Yoshino).
