The world-first clinical study on gastric cancer of a 50-year-old female patient in the early stage was performed by Professor Seigo Kitano, Oita University Hospital in  Japan, was allowed by appropriate ethics committee approvals of the hospital and the documented approval signed by the patent .

Professor Seigo Kitano at Oita University Hospital in Japan, also Chairman of the 11th WCES, explained that  the endoscopic surgery is still stressful to him; however, the surgery with 3-dimensional vision made him free from stress and consequently satisfied with the use of it.

He also said he could cut the expected operation time(3hours) to 1hour and 40 minutes, which show the need of 3D endoscope.
